I am a 56 year old woman, married to a firefighter. I always knew that when my sons were older, I would go back to school to fulfill my dreams of a career doing something that I love! Age should NEVER limit you. In my book, Fire Wife, I wrote about “doing first things first” according to your values and using foresight. Foresight is huge!! Imagine the future you would love first, how you’d like it to look and then make choices and decisions that will make that future manifest and happen.
For me having children was always a priority. I also had every intention of having a career and finishing up my school when I had children. And then I had children and I realized the enormity of the responsibility of turning out good and decent human beings. If you’ve read my book, you already know my story.
My dream was to raise incredible human beings and then have a career, full throttle. That’s not to say I didn’t have jobs while raising my boys but I was predominately a stay at home Mom. In her book, Passages, Gayle Sheedy talks about the woman who defers achievement to raise kids – but then goes on to have achievement after the kids are a little older. That’s me! And now my next chapter is about to begin.
I did however do a lot of personal growth work all the while I was waiting to get to this next chapter of my life. Healing people heal people. Regular self-reflection about what you need to do to be happy is imperative. What is blocking you from your blossoming? Do you need to work on your confidence? Do you need to forgive someone?
I am developing my FULL POTENTIAL. Having another new purpose is thrilling and I feel passionate about it.
Here’s to me! Here’s to you! Never stop growing, never stop challenging yourself and stay true to yourself by living with passion and love at the center of it all! Having PURPOSE in your life and following your calling and your bliss, is the ultimate happiness.
